Safeguarding at The Family School
Staff and regular volunteers are appointed in line with our selection and recruitment policy which includes checks on suitability, including Disclosure and Barring Service checks. We expect all staff and volunteers to share our commitment and understand their responsibilities in keeping our pupils safe.
The Family School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its pupils and adults who attend, this means:
- Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as they emerge;
- Protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online;
- Preventing the impairment to children’s mental health and physical health or development;
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy.
If there are concerns about a child’s welfare it may be necessary for us to share information and work in partnership with other agencies. Any such concerns will always be discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe this would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
We will always take a considered and sensitive approach in order that we can support all our pupils and recognise that each pupil’s and adult welfare is of paramount importance.
