School lunches and food at school

At The Pears Family school we really celebrate food and the opportunities it provides for nourishment and connection.

Breakfast of toast and cereal is offered to all pupils on arrival at school and if they choose to, they can start the day by joining other pupils, families and staff in having breakfast in the hub area on their floor.

We sometimes find that pupils need snacks during the day to help regulate them and support their ability to learn. Some families bring healthy snacks for their children or alternatively use the toast and other healthy snacks available at school.

Pupils and families are offered a hot lunch everyday. Our menus have been agreed with the London Borough of Islington and their nutrition team, who have food for life accreditation. The food is supplied by caterlink,  a copy of the menus can be found here https://caterlinkltd.co.uk/. Caterlink focuses on using quality ingredients, including fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a vegetarian option daily and halal meats are served.

Some children and families choose to bring a packed lunch to school.

Pupils are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them to school.

We recognise the commitment our families are making to supporting their children by being alongside them at school. We aim to make this as comfortable as possible through small things such as coffee, a selection of teas and milk being available for parents/ carers to help themselves to on each floor.

Sometimes pupils and families will make use of the kitchen facilities in school to cook during lessons and multi-family group sessions.

It is important that upon entry to the school, we are made aware of any allergies for pupils and family members attending the Family School.

We are a nut and pork free school. We discourage fizzy drinks and energy drinks in school.
