Arsenal Football Club x Pears Family School, a winning team!

On the 21st November The Pears Family School were kindly invited to Arsenal’s Football Stadium for a tour of the stadium and coaching session. Phase 4 students were given access to state of the art facilities in the training hub attached to the Emirates stadium. The organiser, Jack, works within the community delivering sessions linked to his ‘Getting Match Fit’ programme. He visited our school earlier this year and was really impressed with our innovative sport and mental health SmartGym programme. We hope to be working more closely together in the future using a science informed approach to improving the life chances for children.

Students had access to their indoor 4G pitches where Phase 4 participated in a competitive match against each other. Students also practised on Arsenal’s Tocco Machine. This machine is similar to a cannon which fires out footballs at different heights with the sole purpose of testing the participants control.

The feedback given by Jack was fantastic. He mentioned that the relationship between students was extremely positive even in the most competitive game situation. As a result of the success of our first coaching session our students have been invited to attended a weekly programme at the Arsenal Hub with Jack and his team to help improve their physical skills and build their tactical confidence.
